FLEMINGATE : Community Engagement is Key To Success

Engaging more with the community will help bring more people to the new Flemingate development says Deli No 1 owner Tony Moxon.

Mr. Moxon who opened his second branch of Deli No 1 is keen to see Flemingate flourish and responding feedback from locals is taking action.

Speaking to HU17.net Mr. Moxon said;

“It has been mentioned a few times how there is little engagement with the local residents and no reason to visit the Flemingate shops.”

“I intend to have a number of ’Storytelling at the Deli’ sessions. Starting with a Thursday morning kids’ corner.”

“This will be an hour or so of popular and new books aimed at the 3 to 5 year olds; I hope to tie in with the Beverley Leisure Centre to complement their mum’s and toddler’ events.”

His plans to use the space he has does not stop with children, Mr. Moxon says he is exploring the idea of an event for adults, he said;

“I am also looking at the possibility of an evening event also. A local writer reading elements of their book and storytelling about the plot and concepts.”

“Ideally this would be a tag-teaming with an established and novice author would be an exciting teaming. Comedy may be a good launch point but who knows.”

Deli No 1 are also linking up with local chef and author Nigel Brown, commenting on this Mr. Moxon said;

“Nigel is an award winning chef, from Barton. He has his book out now, How to Cook, and we are looking to have him in for an evening or two to prepare some examples of his recipes, live in the Deli, for the audience.”

“His book has just received its first award, The Best Cookery School Cookbook in the UK for 2015.”

“It will now go on to be entered into the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in 2016. So this will create a buzz.”
