Swinemoor Primary School held their annual Masterchef competition in order to learn more about food and nutrition as part of their Design and Technology curriculum.
The youngest children created their own faces from a variety of vegetables that could be found in a Chinese stir fry including bean sprouts, carrots, peppers , mushrooms and noodles. They had great fun tasting the cooked stir fry in the afternoon.
Key Stage 1 children explored a range of British fruits and Tropical fruits and created their own fruit salads and creative jellies. They developed their skills of peeling, cutting and slicing the different fruits.
Pupils in Key Stage 2 made their own pizzas! Kneading the dough was a tricky skill to master. They experimented with a range of different toppings trying to make them colourful and appealing to eat.
The oldest children researched’ Bread through the Ages’ and developed further their baking skills whilst also learning about the types of bread that was eaten in past times including The Stone Age, Viking times and Victorian Times.
