Businesses and community groups are invited to attend a free event to find out what they can do to celebrate this year’s Tour de Yorkshire.
The roadshow, hosted by race organiser Welcome to Yorkshire and sponsor East Riding of Yorkshire Council, will visit East Riding Leisure Beverley on Thursday, 17 March, from 8-9.30am.
Staff from both organisations will be on hand to give simple and direct information, facts and advice on how to make the most of this world-class event. They will also give advice around brand guidelines and the key dos and don’ts.
Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “The Tour de Yorkshire is a first-class sporting spectacle, which this authority is proud to support.
“Last year’s race proved to be extremely popular with residents, visitors, businesses and local communities who all came together to enjoy the event and celebrate all that is good about Yorkshire.
“The Tour de Yorkshire helps promote the East Riding nationally and internationally and we would encourage anyone with an interest to come along to the roadshow and find out how they can contribute in making this year’s race as successful as the first.”
Sir Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said:
“Our roadshows are proving hugely popular; over a thousand people have attended so far and this is the second we’ve held in Beverley alone. The race is getting closer now so I’d encourage everyone to come down and hear about what to expect on the day, as well as getting some inspiration on creative ways to celebrate.”
Stage one of the race starts in Beverley on Friday, 29 April and will pass through a number of other East Riding settlements, including Cherry Burton, Etton, South Dalton, Holme-on-the-Wolds, Middleton-on-the-Wolds, Market Weighton, Holme-on-Spalding-Moor and Bubwith, before the peloton heads into North Yorkshire.
Spaces at the roadshow are limited, so those interested are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
