Beverley Town Academy Get Back On Track With Home Win

Beverley Town Academy got back to winning ways at Leconfield in a scrappy game that was made all the more difficult on a poor playing surface.

Town had the majority of the play in the first half, with Aidan Fitzgerald up front causing problems with his pace, and Conor Binney pulling the strings in midfield.

However for all Beverley’s possession the final ball, or clinical finish never came off, and both teams went in at half time a little frustrated with the lack of quality, mainly due to the poor pitch.

At half time Town were urged to be patient by manager Rich Jagger, and the second half continued in the same manner with Beverley on top from the start.

After some good periods of possession the Town finally got the lead they deserved when skipper Mike Martin latched onto a cross from the right hand wing and managed to rifle the ball home from 2 yards out with the goal at his mercy.

Town continued to hold the upper hand, Jake McMullen worked tirelessly in midfield alongside Conor Binney, and Luke Oldfield playing at central half for the first time this season was a revelation.

The second goal followed on 72 minutes after some neat interplay on the right hand side. Substitute Ryan Clarke received a perfect lay off from Aidan Fitzgerald and calmly slotted home from the corner of the 18 yard box giving the keeper no chance.

Final Score: Beverley Town Academy 2 Hornsea Town Reserves 0
