East Riding Theatre To Stage City of Culture Business Club Event

Firms across Hull and East Yorkshire are showing their support for Hull UK City of Culture 2017 by signing up to its Business Club partnership tier.

The success of the club’s launch event at the University of Hull in February 2016 led to calls for a similar event to take place in the East Riding.

The next Hull 2017 Business Club event will take place at East Riding Theatre, in Lord Roberts Road, Beverley, on Monday, March 14, from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Business leaders are invited to attend to find out more about how they can support Hull as UK City of Culture, while making the most of business networks and opportunities.

Fran Hegyi, executive director and director of partnerships and development at Hull 2017, said:

“It is a pleasure to welcome the first Business Club partners to the team. Together, our Business Club colleagues will play a significant role in the success and legacy of Hull 2017.”

“City of Culture brings with it many opportunities for the business community and the wider economic growth of the region – not least through a six-figure predicted increase in visitor numbers throughout 2017. Business Club presents a way for companies to publicly show their support for the UK’s world-class year of arts and culture, which is taking place in Hull.”

“The foundations laid by our partners now will help to keep the momentum going for the city and the region in the future.”

Councillor Stephen Parnaby OBE, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, is opening the event. He said:

“The business community will have a major role to play in Hull UK City of Culture 2017 and the Business Club will help support the delivery of the programme and secure the legacy after the year is over.

“As leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, a principal partner of Hull 2017, I am looking forward to opening the next Hull 2017 Business Club event at East Riding Theatre on Monday, 14 March.

“I am sure that many businesses will be interested in coming along to hear about Hull UK City of Culture 2017 – what it will do for both the city and the wider East Riding and to find out how, by joining the Business Club, their business can benefit.”
