Ricci Hunter Goal Earns Crown The Points At Norwood

Beverley Town Football Club suffered their third consecutive defeat as they were beaten by Crown FC at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

A single second half goal by Crown’s Ricci Hunter proved enough for Crown as they kept their Humber Premier League title aspirations on track.

In a goalless first half Town had the chance to take the lead but Craig Muirhead saw his effort hit the inside of the post as the sides went in level at the break.

Match referee Mathew Wright handed out the yellow cards in an energetic start to the second half which ultimately lead to Town being reduced to ten men.

Within two minutes of the red card Crown got their noses in front when Hunter popped up at the back post to poke home from five yards.

Despite their best efforts Town offered little in trying to get back into the match as Crown with the man advantage took charge of the game.

Crown had a great chance when they nearly doubled their lead with a Alex Reveley free kick from 25 yards, but his effort was matched by Towns keeper who was on hand to make a smart save diving to his left.

Beverley’s best chance in the second half fell to the youngster Ollie Baldwin, but he was out foxed by Crown’s keeper, Craig O’Grady, who was quick to come off his line and smother the chance on the edge of the box.

Victory keeps Crown FC in the mix at the top of the Humber Premier League sitting pretty in third place, just three points behind the leaders Wawne United.

Defeat means Beverley remain in eighth place in the league. Next weekend Beverley travel to Hull as they take on Chalk Lane.

Final Score: Beverley Town Football Club 0 Crown FC 1
