East Yorkshire Local History Society - Geology Study Day

A Geology Study Day is to be held in Beverley that aims to introduce the geology of East Yorkshire and discover its influence on local history.

Taking place on Saturday 9 April  in the Peter Harrison Room, Beverley Minster proceedings getting underway at 10.30 AM and finish at around 4.30PM.

Geology is an earth science comprising the study of solid Earth, the rocks of which it is composed, and the processes by which they change.

The Geology Study Day being held in Beverley will include an Introduction to East Yorkshire geology, Quaternary geological history of East Yorkshire, Display and demonstration of Erratics from Ice age Holderness.

Other aspects of the day include  a short Geological Walk, Display of Erratic Fossils from Holderness, Geology and Scenery of the Wolds, Geology in the local Graveyard, How local Geology influences local History – discussion, G.W. Lamplugh – Local Hero, Thomas Sheppard Geologist and Curator.

Tickets for the event cost £26 per person which includes buffet lunch and morning and afternoon refreshments.
