Beverley Community Choir are staging an evening of music and song at Toll Gavel Church, Beverley, on Saturday 14th May at 7.30PM.
The choir will be performing their summer programme, which offers a blend of established favourites and diverse new pieces. They will be supported once again by the young and talented East Riding Suzuki Violin Group.
This springtime concert has become a regular fixture in the town’s musical calendar and the choir are proud that, with the support of their audience, it has become an important fund raiser, having raised to date, along with CD sales, over £10,000 for local charities.
Conducted by their Musical Director Sue Murray, BCC specialises in a cappella singing, and performs an eclectic range of material. They have supported a number of well-known musicians over the years, but the choir also regularly attracts a full house in their own right and have recently recorded their second CD, following up their “Chasing Rainbows” compilation of songs from around the world with a collection of carols and Christmas songs from a variety of traditions.
To complete the evening, it is with great pleasure that the choir welcome back the inspiring East Riding Suzuki Violin Group, led by their tutor and mentor Barbara Parham. Aged between five and 17, these youngsters perform a varied repertoire, which never fails to impress.
Tickets: £7 (£5 concessions) Tickets will be on sale from Beverley Tourist Information Centre and can also be obtained from choir members and “Tues to Sing” sessions.
