Beverley RUFC U13s travelled to Goole looking to settle a score after they had lost a match that they were comfortably winning the last time these teams met.
It was always going to be a tough and competitive match with two evenly balanced teams and in the first 15 minutes, this proved to be the case, both teams defended and attacked extremely well, but Beverley had the upper hand in most areas, they scrumaged well and past the ball fluently between hands, Adam Skeates was strong at full back and the Goole defence struggled to keep him quiet.
The breakthrough eventually came when after an attacking move from a scrum Tom Barnard took the ball down the blindside and a quick pass to Archie Hubbard allowed the powerful winger to touch down.
Goole responded from the kick off and managed to go over for a try before Nathan Cullen, back from injury, ran through and around the Goole defence for his first try of the morning, converted by Barnard.
Second half was a thoroughly entertaining game, with some great attacking rugby, Goole started well and managed to score two early tries and take the lead, before Cullen managed a brace of tries which allowed Beverley to regain control, again to let this slip away and allow Goole to score again.
With the score at 22-24 in favour of Goole and 10 minutes to go, Beverley raised their game significantly, strong running by Ben Walker and Ben Wilkinson, creative play by Sam Acaster and Skeates with support from wingers Cameron Lawley and Tom Haylock inspired the team. The Beverley team were truly committed to winning this game.
After some good forward work Barnard managed to work through and sore a try duly converted to regain the lead and Josh Dillon then also managed to run through the defence late on for a further try again converted by Barnard.
A well-deserved victory and second win in two weeks, Parents Player of the week went to Nathan Cullen for his hat trick of tries and Coaches Player to the full team for an exceptional team performance.
