Allen Slinger hopes that his efforts to decorate his business in blue and yellow for the Tour de Yorkshire do not go unnoticed by the thousands of visitors expected in the town.
Beverley which hosts the start of the Tour de Yorkshire on April 29 is set to be transformed as local business, community groups and the council decorate the town.
Mr. Slinger who runs The Royal Standard at North Bar Within said;
“This year’s race has an extra significance to me as it marks a full year since we completed the refit of the Royal Standard.”
“Since completing the refurbishment, I have to say it has been a very positive time with lots of new people coming through our doors, and I would like to thank everyone for their support.”
Trading in the Georgian Quarter Mr. Slinger is one of the local traders who has shown his support for the Tour de Yorkshire by decking out his premises in the colours of the race, he said;
“There is no question that the Tour de Yorkshire was great last year, and once again this year, there is a real buzz around the town about race starting in Beverley.”
“The Royal Standard has long history of having good floral displays, and I have always wanted to get a decent selection of flowers planted outside the pub.”
“This summer I have invested in new planters and to pay tribute to the Tour de Yorkshire they have been planted up with flowers in the colours of the race.”
With thousands of people expected to head to Beverley for the cycling treat Mr. Slinger will be opening his doors from 11 AM saying;
“On the day I have some special real ales lined up that have a racing theme. Over all this should be a great time in the town with it being the bank holiday weekend.”
“Not only do we have the Tour de Yorkshire we also have a big race meeting on too, Beverley will certainly be the place to be this Bank Holiday Weekend.”
