Tesco Prize Draw Raises Hundreds For Charity

Tesco joined in the ‘Tour de Yorkshire’ spirit by holding a charity prize draw in their Morton Lane store as well as hosting a ‘Yorkshire fayre’ sampling day on the Friday of the race.

Star prize was a road bike and as the prize draw raised a fantastic £600 for the company’s National Charity Partners, British Heart Foundation and Diabetes UK.

The tasting day was a great success as well, with customers welcoming the opportunity to taste Wensleydale cheese, Harrogate sausages, Yorkshire crisps and Timothy Taylor’s Keithley beers.

To further support the race, old bike wheels were painted by staff members and displayed on the railings outside the store.

Tim Williams from Brough won the star prize, he said:

“I still can’t believe I have won this fantastic road bike. Winning it will spur me on to get out and about again in our beautiful countryside around Brough and Beverley and to have fun returning to full fitness by the summer.”

“I’m pleased that the raffle raised £600 for charity and I’ll continue buying Tesco raffle tickets in the future…fingers crossed.”

Sharon Jackson, Trade Manager at the Beverley store said:

“Our customers gave the raffle tremendous support and I’d like to thank them for helping us to raise so much money for two such worthwhile charities. I’d also like to thank Minster Cycles for supplying the road bike.”
