Beverley Theatre Company Present – An Evening of Light and Shade

Beverley Theatre Company Presents Up Pompeii

After recent forays into the world of television sitcom with stage versions of ‘Allo, ‘Allo and Up Pompeii, Beverley Theatre Company returns to more traditional plays with its latest endeavour – but even these have a twist!

With its next major production not due until November 2016, Beverley Theatre Company is presenting ‘An Evening of Light and Shade’ to fill the gap, giving you four one-act plays to stir your emotions, all of which are a little different and quirky.

First on the programme is ‘The Offence’, a comic thriller that will make you smile before becoming darker – and yet still keeping tongue firmly in cheek.

‘The House that Jack Built’ is a dark story of mystery and suspense to get the audience thinking about the eventual consequences of the deeds they carry out in their lives, and what could happen if they….well, wait and see!

‘Seconds Out’ is a short play which takes the domestic row to its natural conclusion, allowing the verbal sparring between man and wife to transform into sparring of a more physical form with uproarious results.

The evening draws to an end with ‘The Juice Bar’, a comedy of technology and the constant worry of having to keep up with the latest trends and being out of date, but told from a very different viewpoint. Probably your only opportunity to see actors playing the roles of mobile phones, sat-navs and iPods!!

‘An Evening of Light and Shade’ will be performed on three dates at smaller, more intimate venues than the company’s traditional home of the Beverley Memorial Hall, which should help to heighten the emotional atmosphere.

Performances will be staged on Thursday 30th June – Armstrong’s Social Club, Grovehill Road, Beverley, Thursday 7th July – Kardomah94, Alfred Gelder Street, Hull and on Friday 8th July – Tickton Little Theatre, Main Street, Tickton.
