Beverley Westwood Lions and the Junior section at Beverley RUFC are joining forces in July as they look to put on a family fun day at Beaver Park.
Duncan Jack from the Beverley Westwood Lions says the day will allow families from Beverley to enjoy a day out without the need to spend a fortune.
Speaking about the event, Mr. Jack said;
“We are involving all sorts of members of the community to come along and run their own little bits of entertainment on the day and make into a big day for the whole community.”
“People can come down and enjoy the Family Fun Day themselves without spending a fortune.”
Some of the local groups involved with the Family Fun Day include Beverley Church Lads and Girls Brigade, Beverley Community Lift, Cherry Tree Centre, Millers Day Centre, Track & Fitness Boxing Club, Humberside Police, local Guides and Brownies plus many more.
The day promises one packed full of entertainment, speaking about what people can expect from the Family Fun Day Mr. Jack said;
“We have got sumo wrestlers, all your traditional games, an obstacle course, golf games and all sorts of bits and pieces going on.”
“There is a picnic area, people can either make use of the BBQ that is being run by the junior section of the rugby club, or you can bring your own stuff.”
“On the day, we will have no problem with people using the area, there is going to be an area that is dedicated to entertainment, we just want people to enjoy themselves without spending a fortune.”
Other activities will including football coaching sessions held in conjunction with local football team the Humber Colts that will be on hand to tech children new skills.
While the event is free to attend organisers have applied a small fee to park as they are trying to encourage people to make their way to the event on foot.
Westwood Lions member Les Ford says the event has come about as the group want to try to recreate the Lions Carnival, which he says was always very popular with the community.
The Family Fun Day will place on place on 10 July from 11AM to 4PM and everyone one is welcome though please note dogs are not permitted on the grounds at Beaver Park.
