Queenie Tattersall Celebrates Her 100th Birthday

Queenie Tattersall who her son has described as having a heart as big as a dustbin lid this week celebrated her 100th birthday.

Mrs Tattersall who was born on the 22nd June 1916 moved to Dalton when she was just three years old and lived at The Pipe and Glass.

From there she moved to Howden where she met the man she would go on to marry at Beverley Minster and raise six children.

During her working life Mr Tattersall was a SEM Nurse specialising in the care of people with psychiatric issues.

Speaking about his mum, her son Graham said;

“Mother is a wonderful lady with a heart the size of dustbin lid. She is the sort of person that would give someone he last loaf of bread. All her life she has only ever seen the good in people.”

It is her caring nature that is something one man, William Oliver will always treasure, he describes Mrs Tattersall as his second mother.

At the Beverley Classic Car Show Mr Oliver used the event to mark her birthday by decorating his car that he was displaying.

Graham said he wanted to thank the home where she is living for their help in celebrating the landmark birthday, he said;

“On behalf of the family I would like to all the staff at Beverley Grange Nursing Home for everything they have done for her over the past six weeks.”

“They have kept her comfortable and were really helpful in helping mum celebrate her 100th birthday and were very accommodating with so many relatives coming into the home throughout the day.”
