Age UK East Riding will be running their popular IT courses for older people next month at Beverley Library as they look to teach people the basics they need to use a computer.
Age UK East Riding say they are ready to go and volunteers are in place and just need to hear from people who wish to join one of their courses.
Their sessions help older people to access information via the internet, keep in contact with loved ones via email and take up an new hobby.
A spokesperson for Age UK East Riding said;
“We are pleased to announce that we will have places available on our IT Training Sessions for older people that start again in September 2016.”
“This is thanks to the ongoing support of the Beverley Library and local volunteers. These sessions are provided free of charge.”
“It is clear that they are a direct benefit for older people and we wish to encourage more people to contact us for more information. They are open to anyone over the age of 50.”
“We also still need more volunteers to come forward to help, as there some libraries where we have no volunteers or only a few who are available to run these sessions.”
“The 8 week course runs 1 day a week for 2 hours and covers the basics of IT Training. Most people just need to know how to use the keyboard & mouse and how to access the internet.”
“The aim is to provide the means for older people to find the information they need from the internet, to learn how to communicate via emails and at the same time to take part in a worthwhile and interesting new hobby that can benefit them in so many ways.”
“We are very keen hear from anyone who has a couple of hours a week available over 8 weeks to help others to learn IT.”
