Nathan White Scores Late To Secure Points For Beverley Town

Beverley Town Football Club secured their first win in the Humber Premier League as they beat Reckitts AFC 2-1 at the Norwood Recreation Ground.

A late goal by the skipper Nathan White secured Town’s first win of the new season which has seen them move to seventh place in the table just two points off third placed East Yorkshire Carnegie.

Speaking after the game, match winner White said;

“The team has really come together over the last few weeks and everyone works for each other.”

“This was a well deserved win that feels a long time coming after some disappointing results. As for the goal, I had no choice to put it in top corner.”

Reckitts started the match the stronger of sides and while they created a number of chances they were unable to hit the target.

Following a break it was Town who ceased the initiative when Matty Littlefield scored his third goal in four matches from the tightest of angles to put his side ahead.

In the second period Reckitts got themselves back on level terms and with just five minutes left to play in the match White got on the end of miss timed shot to slot home from 12 yards out.

Gaffer Rich Jagger said there is a some relief in the camp about getting their first win but stressed he and the side are looking to build on this result.

When asked how he felt his side had performed he said;

“We showed good energy, defensively we looked solid and caused them some problems.  Littlefield again was a real threat and scored a great goal.”

“I thought the lads that came on for us mid way through the second half freshened up things and had a big impact on dragging us back into the game.

“It was great to finally benefit from a late goal, and the lads as a team defended magnificently for the last 10 minutes when they threw everything at us. Thanks to our man of the match Mathew Spencer in goal we managed to keep them out.”

Jagger also thanked those who had come along to watch match, he said;

“To see such a large crowd down there for a mid week game is great.”

“It feels like there is a good buzz about the club and hopefully the crowds will continue to come down and support the lads because it makes a big difference.”

Town will be looking to make it back to back wins this Saturday when they Hanson Jewellers FC who are currently bottom of the Humber Premier League with no points.
