Nicky Moody Impresses On First Tanners Start

Solid performances by Mark Richardson and new signing Nicky Moody ensured Hodgsons FC ended their pre season on a high as they beat Howden.

Hodgsons FC who will get their new East Riding County Season underway next weekend signed off their build up to the new season with 6-1 win at the Beverley Leisure Centre.

Goals came from Tanners veteran Paul Silvester along with a brace from Robbie Whiting in the first half with second half goals from Jordan Dexter, Scott Vickers and Danny Piwinski as the Tanners run out comfortable winners on wet day at the Leisure Centre.

Tanners Anthony Steer was delighted with the result, commenting on the game he said;

“It was a good final pre season game before the season starts next week. We played some good football in tricky conditions and new signings Nick Moody and Scott Vickers did really well.”

Moody was only making his second appearance for the Tanners since arriving in the Summer. This was the youngsters’ first start though has made an appearance from the bench for the club.

His efforts in the game against Howden were recognised by Steer who picked him out as one of the key players in the match, he said;

“For me, the two standout players were Moody and Richardson. He had a hand in four of our six goals, and no one could anywhere near him.”

“Moody was terrorising the Howden left back all game. He showed great class in how he was linking up great with Richardson, and the other lads like he had being playing with us for years.”

“The gaffer was more than happy with the 6-1 win. We can now as a squad all look ahead to our opening match, which is against Hanson Jewellers here at the Beverley Leisure Centre.”

Final Score: Hodgsons FC 6 Howden 1
