Beverley RUFC manager Will Turnbull says he was left infuriated after his side were ‘old manned out’ in their 48-19 defeat.
Dark arts and clever play proved to be the undoing of Beverley RUFC as they were beaten by local rival Hunessiens.
Speaking to HU17.net Turnbull said;
“We had a poor performance. We were ‘old manned’ out of the game. It’s infuriating that they scored so many points as they didn’t manufacture a single one.”
“Hullenssiens played off our ill-discipline but they took their chances and fair play to them. They did what they needed too.”
Beverley took a an early lead in the match though the experience of Hullenssiens showed as they got back in the match and went on to win comfortably.
Turnbull had no excuses for the defeat pointing to errors by individuals costing the side, he said;
“We need to have a look at ourselves as we are making too many individual errors and allowing teams to pressurise us.”
“When we play, we look great. But it is a young squad that needs these setbacks to learn, and I could see that the boys knew they had let themselves down.”
“We are going to crack down on training and selection will be interesting.”
Having enjoyed a very good start to the season Turnbull will be looking for a reaction from his players as the coach, who tells it as it is, looks to his side to bounce back.
This is the first defeat in three games for Beverley who started with an easy win away to Acklam which they then followed up with a much tougher win at home against Bradford.
As team this season they have looked good with their youthfulness fitting in well with the style of play Turnbull is drilling his side to play.
The Beavers return to action this weekend and are again on the road as they travel to Keighley next Saturday for their 3PM kick-off.
