A new academic year has started at the council’s adult learning centre in Beverley and, whilst enrolment on courses is high, there are still places available.
Councillor Jane Evison, cabinet portfolio holder for economic investment and tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:
“We’ve had an excellent response to enrolment, with 600 learners, new and old, studying with us from October and we also welcome 22 new tutors teaching specialist subjects.”
“Courses that continue to be popular include our new dressmaking course as well as flower arranging, basic maths and English and pottery. We’ve also seen a rise in the number of people enrolling on computer and digital skills courses.”
“Places are still available for a number of other courses; including our Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STLS) introduction course – starting in October now that schools have gone back.”
“We still have spaces on courses in some centres with more courses added during the year.”
Courses are due to start in October, with places still available in Beverley on courses relating to;
• Mindfulness
• Introduction to photography
• Getting started with creative writing
• Getting started with flower arranging
• Introduction to Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STLS)
• Getting started in business and admin.
Names and contact details can also be taken from people interested in future courses, which might currently be fully booked and enrolment is essential on all of the courses.
