Beverley Building Society To Hold Bake Sale At Food Festival

The Beverley Building Society will be open for the Beverley Food Festival on Sunday 2 October.

Staff from the Society will be participating in the festival by baking home-made cakes and treats in return for donations in aid of charity partner, Action Duchenne.

As the Head of Operations at the Beverley Building Society, Lesley Wegg’s son, Ashley was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2014 and Lesley has become a Trustee of Action Duchenne.

Speaking about the fund raiser she said;

“Our team will be working hard this week to prepare cakes for Sunday.”

“Beverley Food Festival is always a very busy day in Beverley and we hope that people will pop-in for tasty treats as all proceeds will be donated to Action Duchenne, which is researching a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.”

“The Building Society is celebrating its 150th Anniversary, supporting Action Duchenne throughout the year with a variety of fundraising initiatives including skydiving and zip wire challenges, the Great North Run and a 119KM bike ride. So far we have raised over £19,000.”

Beverley Food Festival is free to attend, there will be over one hundred stalls selling local produce, the cookery theatre marquee features seven local chefs, as well as street entertainment and music.

In its 11th year the Beverley Food Festival attracts an estimated 20,000 people who come to try out the vast range of locally produced food and drink.

Taking place this Sunday it will be officially opened at 10AM by the Mayor of Beverley, Cllr Robert Begnett and Britain’s Got Talent Semi Finalists ‘The Garnett Sisters’ will also be entertaining the crowds.
