Club officials attended the Yorkshire Mens League’s end of season review and awards evening at Shaw Cross ARLFC, Dewsbury last Wednesday evening and scooped up a top award.
Beverley ARLC won the club of the year award in the face of some stiff competition.
A number of criteria were considered by the management when deciding the award of which Premier Division winners West Bowling and Division Two winners Leeds Academics were closely in the running.
However, Beverley finished fourth in the Premier Division having been promoted from Division One the previous year.
They also were beaten finalists in the 40/20 cup final which was the best attended final since the cup commenced in 2012.
To top it off, they had a good disciplinary record with just one sending off and showed the best commitment to fixtures, re-arranging only one game against Mirfield.
The RFL’s club and competitions manager Chris Spurr reflected on 2016 as the Yorkshire Mens league most successful season since its inception in 2012 with more teams than ever before and looked forward to 2017 being bigger and better still.
Club players and official are now enjoying some down time after a long season that commenced last February.
The club’s annual sports dinner and awards evening is on Saturday 19th November at Lazatts, Cottingham.
Tables can still be booked through Ian Pollard on 07779357988. Adrian Morley is the guest speaker at the club’s main annual fund-raiser.
Shortly after the sports dinner Beverley’s coaching staff expect to announce a date for the start of pre-season training,
