Beverley U14s entertained Malton RUFC this week, a team that never before have they managed to beat, but determined to keep up their winning form.
What followed was a totally dominant performance in every aspect of the game, showing the huge improvements that this team continues to make.
From the kick off the Beverley showed the intent that they wanted to play this game with and Harrison Petrie soon powered over for the first try of the morning. This was soon followed by Tom Barnard who scored his first try of the day when he beat a number of defenders to weave his way over the try line which he duly converted.
The Malton team then looked to take momentum but strong tackling and rucking ensured that they were unable to make ground, when Beverley were in possession they were destructive, Barnard again crossed the line soon followed by the free scoring Nathan Cullen, before Ben Walker opened up the defence and score under the posts followed by the powerful Oliver Lazenby.
The second half was very much the same pattern, when required Beverley held firm in defence with Petrie, Jasper Ghio and Harry Hestleton strong in the tackle.
Tries continued to follow coming from Cullen and the Ben Wilkinson before Barnard fielded a long clearance kick outspaced and deceived the Malton defence to complete his hat-trick.
The final scores came from Oliver Jenner, who had looked dangerous all day in only his second game and on both occasions round the Malton team for two well taken tries before Malton called time on the game.
Manager Phil Crockett said;
“This was an excellent performance making a great statement of intent within local rugby and they can now look forward to next week’s Yorkshire Plate match at home against Goole with confidence.”
“A special mention this week to Aaron Wearing playing his first match choose to make to Maltons numbers and Ben Ashley after a strong first half performance for Beverley help Malton in the second half.”
