Beverley Minster will once again be illuminated green in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on Tuesday 6 December for the charity’s annual Christmas carol concert.

The concert marks the start of the Christmas festivities for many local people and will feature an evening of entertainment with a host of musicians, singers and readers, including the Bishop of Hull – the Right Reverend Alison White.

Chairman of the concert committee, Tim Haley says:

“It is a real honour for me to be organising this event. Macmillan Cancer Support has achieved many great things for local people affected by cancer and the Christmas carol concert is a lovely way to get together to remember lost loved ones and to celebrate the hard work of all of the charity’s supporters, staff and volunteers who make such a huge difference to peoples’ lives.

“With at least one in three of us affected by cancer, Macmillan’s achievements are invaluable and the concert will raise much needed funds and generate awareness of their cause, enabling the charity to find new ways to give people affected by cancer the support they so desperately need.

“Our annual carol concert is a major fundraiser for an extremely worthwhile cause. Without continued public support, Macmillan would not be able to fund its valuable work. On behalf of the committee I would like to thank this year’s sponsors; MKM Building Supplies, Handlesbanken and William Jackson Food Group.”

“The carol concert is a really enjoyable family night out, to celebrate the start of Christmas and to support Macmillan to help cancer sufferers and their families.”

In addition to readings, there will be music from the Beverley Pipe Band, Hull Collegiate School, soloist Eleanor Stevens and The Hull Savoyards along with much loved Christmas carols, mince pies and mulled wine.

Tickets are priced at £12.50 and are available from Beverley Tourist Information Centre and Guest and Phillips in Saturday Market. The concert starts at 7.00 pm, Tuesday 6 December.
