If you are still stuck for ideas this Christmas then you could do worse than to visit the award winning Christmas Festival of Food and Drink.
Taking place this Saturday at Beverley Minster the Christmas Festival of Food and Drink which won East Yorkshire Local Food Network, Best Food and Drink event 2016 brings together a range of local stalls selling everything from festive treats to hand crafted gifts.
Christmas would not be the same without a visit from Father Christmas and organisers say they have got that covered.
The Town Clerk at Beverley Town Council, Helen Watson said;
“There is something for everyone at the Festival; the Beverley Westwood Lions will be bringing Santa to the event in his sleigh at 10am.”
“There will be lots for families to enjoy from meeting Santa, to taking part in medieval storytelling, to decorating festive treats and learning how to make the perfect Christmas Lunch with award winning Chef Chris Harrison from ‘Shoot the Bull’.”
“We are especially looking forward to the strolling Mediaeval Grinnigog minstrels and the visit from the panto-land of Aladdin, along with sampling the delicious local food and drink products on offer.”
Throughout the day there will be a full programme of entertainment with local groups contributing by performing at Beverley Minster with the Beverley Brass Band, Beverley Community Choir and Beverley Ukelele Group all taking part.
A totally free to attend event the Christmas Festival of Food and Drink signals the start of the what will be a weekend of events that signal the start of Christmas in the Town.
Ms Watson added;
“Christmas celebrations start in Beverley this weekend with the food festival on Saturday and the Christmas Lights being switched on taking place on Sunday. It will be a really festive community weekend to enjoy.”
Doors open at Beverley Minster from 10AM when the event is officially opened buy the Mayor of Beverley with proceedings coming to a close at 6PM with a nativity play.
