Hull City Council has published a decision record announcing that PBS Construction Limited will be appointed to construct the city’s first closed road cycle circuit.
Following a competitive tendering process the council awarded local construction company PBS Construction Limited the contract having demonstrated that it offered the best value and most cost effective solution.
The 1km purpose-built cycle circuit at land adjacent to Ennerdale Leisure Centre will boast additional parking facilities and spectator paths improving cycling provision for all levels within the region.
The new circuit is to be funded by grant contributions from British Cycling and Hull City Council and will be available for use by local cycling clubs and the wider public of all ages and abilities, providing a safe, traffic-free environment for cyclists to learn, train and compete.
Councillor Terry Geraghty, Hull City Council Portfolio Holder for Culture and Leisure and Chair of Hull Culture & Leisure Limited, said:

Construction work is due to commence before the New Year, the new facility is hoped to be completed by August 2017, offering a high quality facility that will benefit, cyclists, families and the wider community.
