Vauxhall retailers, Evans Halshaw in Hull and Beverley, are celebrating the first anniversary of OnStar, Vauxhall’s personal on-board assistant.

OnStar gives drivers peace of mind, as it brings technology, safety and security features to Vauxhall owners who register for OnStar services for their OnStar equipped car. The retailers, with sites in Mount Pleasant and Priory Park, Hull, and Beverley, are delighted that the live service has been ensuring that owners have been enjoying a host of OnStar innovations for the last year.

Aron Brown, Dealer Principal at Evans Halshaw Beverley at Evans Halshaw, comments: “One year on since its launch and we are very pleased to report that OnStar is proving hugely popular with customers, as people really appreciate the convenience and peace of mind offered by its services.

“Vauxhall OnStar combines friendly personal advisors with technology to make driving safer as well as offer new innovations around convenience and connectivity. And best of all, the OnStar Services is free to customers to test in the first 12 months after their registration*.

“Vauxhall OnStar is part of the standard equipment with selected trim levels, or optional, on nearly all new passenger cars, including the Mokka X SUV, urban-chic ADAM city car and award-winning New Astra. We’re looking forward to seeing more Vauxhall models being available with the technology in the coming year.”

Available 24/7 and 365 days a year, OnStar Advisors are located at the OnStar service center at Vauxhall’s headquarters in Luton. At the push of a button, OnStar users can request assistance whenever they want, for example, in an emergency, or just to get a destination downloaded to their built-in satnav system**. The OnStar buttons are located in the overhead center console or the rear-view mirror.

Drivers have the reassurance of a real person they can speak to at the end of the line. With the blue ‘service’ button being pushed over 40,000 times across the UK in the first twelve months, this innovation in automotive on-board assistant services has certainly been put to good use.

In any vehicle with OnStar, if an airbag deploys, OnStar is alerted automatically* and an advisor will then contact the vehicle to determine whether help is required. If there is no response, emergency services are immediately requested to be sent to the car.

OnStar also transforms the car into a 4G WiFi hotspot, capable of running up to seven devices at once with a fast and stable connection to high-speed internet services*.

The MyVauxhall smartphone app, which has been used nearly half a million times in the last year, remotely connects motorists to their vehicle, enabling drivers to not only contact OnStar from anywhere but also access important vehicle data such as oil life and tyre pressure and even remotely lock or unlock the car*.

An increasing number of Vauxhall models will be OnStar equipped for the 2017 model year. For more details, visit your local Evans Halshaw retailer or go online to www.evanshalshaw.com/vauxhall.

*The OnStar Services require activation and are subject to mobile network coverage and availability. Wi-Fi Hotspot service requires account with nominated network operator. 4G is subject to mobile network coverage and availability.

Charges apply after the free trial period. The OnStar subscription packages could be different from the services included in the free trial package. Terms and conditions apply.

** This feature is not available for Viva, ADAM, or Corsa models. An embedded Vauxhall navigation unit and map data are requirements for this service.
