New Beers In Town – Preliminary Tests Very Encouraging

Beverley’s newest brewery has taken a major step forward, launching a new range of draught beers, having found a suitable base in the town.

Following the successful launch of Black Mill Brewery at the 2016 Beverley Real Ale Festival the team behind it has been working on its next development which included a permanent sales outlet for the three core ales.

After discussions with Neil Pickford, landlord at the Monks Walk, this home has now been found!

Three new beers are now available exclusively in the Monks Walk: Black Bitter- a simple ale; Black Gold – a pale, hoppy golden beer and Dead Bob – a traditional stout.

Paul East from Black Mill Brewery said;

“We were blown away with the initial response to our first 3 brews and people loved the link to Beverley.”

“The brewery is still trying to find a permanent home in the town so having our beers on at the Monks Walk could be the start of a great partnership.”

Neil said:

“Monks Walk concentrates on serving the best locally-brewed beers, and what could be more local than a Beverley-based brewery? We all hope that Black Mill’s beers will prove as popular as they deserve to be and that they can become a permanent feature alongside the other Yorkshire brews we offer.”

  1. I can only suppose that the pub gets these beers at a bargain price. No longer can you say: “I would like a pint of Theakston’s/Tetley’s or Thirsk’s beer” and go to the appropriate pub, now you are confronted with a row of ales that you know little about, you eventually find one that you like and hey presto it has gone and been replaced by: Beer McBreweryface or some such.
    I am old enough to remember real ale and to be thankful to ‘Real Ale Association’ but now the pendulum has swung the other way and good brewery beers are being outed.

  2. That’s the whole point…diversity!
    As for ‘Good brewery beers’, the reason why more micro breweries are being successful is because of bland ales such as Tetleys, owned by conglomerates who bought up small local and regional brewers, asset stripped them and closed them!
