![Christmas Message From The Chairman Of East Riding Of Yorkshire Council](http://www.hu17.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/cahir.jpg)
On behalf of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, I would like to wish everyone a happy, healthy and peaceful Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
As my wife, Jennifer and I, have undertaken our civic duties, we have been greatly impressed at the goodwill that exists between the diverse communities that make up this great county and the amount of charity work that takes place on a daily basis by so many people who go about their tasks quietly and without self reward, only seeking to make life a little better for those less fortunate than ourselves.
As Christmas and the New Year approach, we ask you to think about those who are serving in the armed forces, who are unwell, who have been bereaved, the elderly, the vulnerable and those who feel lonely, and be a good neighbour in this season of goodwill.
Christmas means different things to different people. For me, Christmas is a time for family and offers us a chance to reflect back on 2016 and also for us to look forward to the coming year. Christmas is a very special time for us all, a time to spend with family and friends and to send good wishes to those we care about.
So, let us take on board the Christmas message of hope and work towards making our lives and our community a better place.
Councillor John P. Dennis
Chairman of East Riding of Yorkshire Council
