Beverley RUFC Under 14s returned to action following the Christmas break with a convincing 53-17win at Scarborough.
With some enforced changes Beverley played Sam Acaster at Stand off and Harry Gunn resumed at full back, leaving Ben Ashley in the centres and Aaron Wearing on the wing, this showed the competitive strength in depth that this team has.
From the kick off Scarborough demonstrated that they are side which contains talent throughout the ranks and they justifiably took the lead when their powerful centre made ground and scored under the posts, this was duly converted.
From that moment it was generally Beverley all the way, first Jasper Ghio powered over for a try before Nathan Cullen scored his first of the afternoon.
The Beverley forwards started to continually secure their own ball and turned over the Scarborough ball, good work from Harry Hestleton, Alex Crockett and Oliver Lazenby, with excellent support from Toby Ashworth, Ben Walker and Ben Wilkinson ensured that the travelling team dominated possession, allowing the Beverley backs to gain ground.
Cullen scored two further tries before half time and completed another hatrick, leaving the half time score at Beverley 22 Scarborough 7.
The second half was much the same as the first, Cullen scored a further try before Walker drove over from a scrum, and a hatrick from Harrision Petrie completed the scores.
Three further conversions from Alex Nuttall left the score Scarborough 17 Beverley 53.
This proved to be a good work out for the Beverley team as they progress to play tougher opposition over the next few weeks.
Parents Player of the Week went to Sam Acaster for stepping up and proving his value within the team and Coaches Player to Josh Dillon for his work ethic and strong attacking running.
