Beverley ARLC’s Lee Stevens says he thinks the Blue and Golds have what it takes to not only challenge for the title but to win it.
Stevens made the comments ahead of the clubs pre season fixture this Saturday against Myton Warriors, a match that will be a massive test for the Blue and Golds.
Speaking ahead of the game, the fans favourite said;
“I am really looking forward to this campaign as it’s my 10th season playing for Beverley and I think we have a real chance of winning the league this year.”
“After our efforts last year in the Yorkshire Premier we know what to expect playing in the top league, in our first season after getting promoted we finished 4th and secured a play off place.”
“This year we can go one better.”
Stevens says there is a good feel about the club, and new arrivals will compliment an already talented side, he said;
“Mood in the camp is high after a tough pre season and the training has been really good. We have used Hull FC’s training facilities again and good numbers have turned up every week.”
“ Lewis Straw has joined us from Skirlaugh, he is the half back we have been needing to complement Louis Poskitt. Jack Kerrison from local hull side Brownies has also come in, he is a big strong winger and a couple of old faces have come back after a season out.”
“We have three testing fixtures in the run up to the start of the 2017 campaign. These have been arranged to test where we are and see how far we have come as a squad.”
Beverley ARLC have friendlies this weekend against Myton Warriors, East Moor Dragons and Hull Dockers who both will take on the Blue and Golds at the Beverley Leisure Centre.
