A second half header from Ben Thomson secured all three points for Beverley Town Football Club as they beat East Riding Rangers.
Gaffer Rich Jagger said he was ‘really pleased’ with the side after they also kept a clean sheet in this all important Humber Premier League match.
Thomson who put in a all round good performance in the centre of the park showed his scoring potential as he got on a the end of Mike Dixon cross to nod home in tight game.
Town’s manager, Jagger, speaking after the game said;
“We started slowly and the first 20 minutes was as poor from us as I’ve seen in a while. However credit to the lads as they dug deep and after that early spell we got back in the game and started to compete well.”
“Losing Stu Oliver after only 30 minutes with a nasty gash to his shin was a blow, but Nathan Mist came on and settled well.”
“I felt that in the second half we looked fitter and stronger, we had four very good chances to score and defended really well.”
“Thomson popped up with a good headed goal and deserved it after his performance in midfield.”
“Overall I was really pleased with the win, it showed we could dig deep and mix it when we needed to.”
“I was also chuffed that the lads kept their first clean sheet for a while, the way they defended they definitely deserved it.”
Jagger was also delighted with the performance of their Albanian Youth International Aldo Hysenaj who featured in the closing stages of the game, Jagger said;
“Hysenaj did well when he came on, one is certainly one for the future.”
Victory sees Beverley Town move to within two points of seventh placed AFC Reckitts. Next weekend Beverley will look to make it three wins on the spin as they host struggling Hansen Jewellers FC at the Norwood Recreation Ground.
