Last week Graham Stuart MP visited the Boulevard Academy in Hull to meet pupils and staff and to promote awareness of the importance of high quality careers advice and guidance for young people.
Speaking about his visit Mr. Stuart said;
“I really enjoyed my visit to the Academy and I want to thank Mr Grace, Ms Jackson and Kerrie Jaquest for a very useful meeting on how to deliver excellent careers education to pupils.”
“I’m so pleased the Academy recognises the importance of this for local children – opening up opportunities that they may never have been aware of and may never have aspired to.”
After a tour of the Academy’s facilities with the Head and Deputy Head Boys and Girls, Graham met Principal Andy Grace , Art and Design Teacher Kylie Jackson, who leads for the Academy on its careers work and Kerrie Jaquest, Enterprise Coordinator for Hull and the East Riding with the Government-backed Careers and Enterprise Company, to discuss the Academy’s work to promote CEIAG (Careers Education, Information and Guidance).
Graham is a keen champion of the importance of careers education for young people, both in terms of ensuring they are aware of opportunities in the local and national labour markets but also in terms of informing them about the right courses and qualifications to realise their ambitions.
He helped to launch the Humber LEP Careers Gold Standard in 2014 and is encouraging all local schools to work towards obtaining the quality award.
