Beverley RUFC returned to action this weekend with an enthralling end to end victory away at Driffield.

Beverley had beaten Driffield for the first time earlier in the season and the home team were determined to try and level the score this season.

Both sides traded tries all morning culminating in 15 tries being scored in total, but with Eden Quantock having the better day from the kicking tee ensured that Beverley came away with a 43 – 42 points win.

Beverley started well and in the first few minutes some good drives by the forwards set up Tom Barnard to score his first try of the morning with some excellent support play, Harry Gunn from full back also laid a sublime pass to allow Barnard to score a further try. Barnard went on to score a further three tries in the morning taking his tally to five.

Harrison Petrie scored a brace of tries also before Jasper Ghio’s powerful run allowed him to take a try late on.

In many areas Beverley were good, strong scrum’s secured good ball and also they took some against the head with powerful drives. Alex Crockett, Petrie and Harry Hestleton leading the way, the loose play was good with Alex Nuttal and Josh Dillon dangerous and again the back row of Ben Walker, Ben Wilkinson and Cameron Lawley (on for the injured Toby Ashworth) covered the pitch well.

The backs were strong with Quantock distributing well, Oliver Jenner was unfortunate not to score and Sam Acaster as ever strong throughout the game.

When they played to the game plan they look dangerous at every opportunity, but let themselves down with some poor tackling at times and this allowed Driffield into the game.

Overall a pleasing morning rugby between two good teams, having not played for a couple of weeks it was clear that match fitness had dipped slightly but this will returning for next weeks match.

Parents and Coaches agreed with players of the week, giving these to Harrison Petrie and Tom Barnard.

Final Score : Driffield 42 Beverley RUFC 43
