Richard Durrant will be making a welcome return to Beverley on Thursday 30 March, 2017, at 7.30pm, for an evening of Richard’s latest musical adventure, in Toll Gavel United Church.

Richard’s latest musical adventure will feature the Uffington Tenor Guitar, built by Ian Chisholm in Suffolk, and a six -string concert guitar built by Gary Southwell in Lincolnshire and made from 5000 year old bog oak.

This concert is a uniquely British exploration of unplugged, acoustic music on the folk/classical cusp.

Community arts officer June Mitchell said: “Stringhenge is beautifully produced and as richly visual as any of Richard’s tours of recent years. It is also unplugged, allowing the audience to hear and feel the vibrations of the wood in these incredible guitars.

“Richard plays them brilliantly and is a clever weaver of intriguing tales. It’s real roots music linking the neolithic to the 21st century.”

The originals written for the tour draw inspiration from the hill barrows of Sussex, the flatlands of East Anglia and the mountains of Cumbria. Other pieces are chosen from eleven centuries of music with more than a smattering of JS Bach.

Richard has performed the Aranjuez concerto with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, who will be visiting Bridlington Spa on Sunday 9 July with their family concert.

The concert is part of ‘Classically Yours’, one of the key events in the East Riding’s celebration of Hull UK City of Culture 2017, in which East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Orchestras Live have joined forces to bring more orchestral music to the area.

Tickets for Stringhenge cost: Adults £15, Concessions £13, all children under 14 FREE with full paying adult, additional children £5 and are available from Beverley Library or call 01482 395320
