A programme of talks and photography workshops has been announced to accompany the hugely popular Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition running at the Treasure House in Beverley until 22 April, one of the key East Riding events in Hull UK City of Culture 2017, in which East Riding of Yorkshire Council is a Principal Partner.

Tuesday 21 March will see a talk by award-winning wildlife photographer George Stoyle (current winner of the British Wildlife Photography Award) at the Treasure House, at 6.30pm : ‘Photography in Conservation and Environmental Research’.

He will talk about the value of conservation photography, describing some of his recent projects to promote the work of conservation and research around the world. Tickets are £5 per person.

The exhibition is also being accompanied by a talk and two photography workshops by award-winning local wildlife photographer, Steve Race, but all three of these events have now sold out.

Education officer Sarah Hammond said: “I am delighted that we have been able to arrange events and workshops featuring photographers of the calibre of George Stoyle and Steve Race. It’s brilliant news that this programme has proved to be so popular, and it’s very useful for people wishing to improve their wildlife photography skills.”

To book tickets for the talk by George Stoyle – and to be added to the reserve list for the Steve Race events – go online at: museums.eastriding.gov.uk/Beverley

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is free and is in the Treasure House until 22 April, and features 100 awe-inspiring images, from fascinating animal behaviour to breathtaking wild landscapes.

It is the most prestigious photography event of its kind, which has provided a global platform showcasing the natural world’s most astonishing and challenging sights for over 50 years. The exhibition is open Monday – Saturday, and is also open on Sundays 12 and 19 March (10am – 4pm).
