BREXIT, the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) and fuel price trends will be the topics up for discussion at the inaugural Rix Agricultural Open Day in April.
Keynote speakers Duncan Lambert, director of Rix Petroleum, Mark Todd, UK Wholesale Business Manager from global Energy Company Phillips 66, and farmer and NFU board member Guy Poskett, will address the region’s farmers at the event on Wednesday, April 12th at the Rix Pavilion in Driffield.
As well as in-depth discussion about the biggest topics currently affecting agriculture, farmers will be able to pick the brains of the speakers in a Q&A session.
They will also get the chance to chat with the Rix team and some of their trusted suppliers about their fuel, lubricants, tanks and additives, test-drive the latest Fiat and Jeep 4×4 off-road vehicles, and browse other exhibition stands from HSE, Exocet, Farmers Mart, Q8 Oils, and Greenchem AdBlue.
Duncan Lambert, director at Rix Petroleum, said: “We’ve decided to create the Rix Agricultural Open Day to help the region’s farmers keep up to date with all things fuel and farm, so we’re hoping everyone will take something away from the day.
“As fuel is one of the biggest input costs on the farm today, we have a number of buying options available to help farmers with both price and cash flow, which is what we will be speaking about.
“Mark has been in the fuel industry for more than 26 years so his extensive industry knowledge and deep understanding of the fuel market will be a real asset to delegates. Heating oil and commercial fuel is a big expense for most farming operations, so gaining some expert insight into market trends could, hopefully, lead to some savings.
“Given Guy’s position and experience in the industry, there will be a lot on interest in what he has to say about the big issue of the coming year or so – Brexit and its implications on CAP and the industry as whole.
“We hope the day will be a great success and we intending on making it an annual event to help keep the region’s farmers up to date with the latest fuel and farming trends.”
The Rix Agricultural Open Day is free to attend and will start at 8.30am with a locally sourced breakfast, followed by two key note speakers, then time for delegates to look around the trade stands.
After a hog roast lunch, the final key note speech of the day, Guy Poskitt, will address the delegates.
Any farmer wanting to attend can register by emailing events@rix.co.uk no later than March 26. Spaces are limited and are awarded on a first come, first served basis.
