Hull born physical training instructor, Mr Dave McCoid has been awarded a Sports Personality & Lifetime Achievement Award by Colonel Andrew Kennedy, the Commandant at the Defence School of Transport.
The ex-soldier has worked at the Defence School of Transport in Leconfield for over 7 years as a civilian specialist instructor.
Dave works extremely hard to shape and develop the attitudes, behaviour, knowledge and sporting skills of every soldier he interacts with. He is a born motivator and a support network for young soldiers training at the school.
In addition to his everyday responsibilities as a physical training instructor, the Hull born instructor is also the team manager, coach and player for DST’s basketball team, ‘The DST Wild Dog’.
Under his leadership, the mixed civilian and military team have achieved many honours; they have achieved back to back promotions and are the current Community League Champions.
The Community title is something that DST is extremely proud of; it signifies the relationships that Dave has generated between the civilian and military communities.
The accolades don’t stop there; the team have also recently been crowned the Army North Champions. This outstanding team effort has earned them a place in the coveted Army Championships which will take place at Aldershot in April.
Dave said:
“I have worked hard over the years developing the basketball team and they have excelled way beyond my expectations.”
“However, this has been a real team effort; so I have to say thank you them, they all know who they are and without their help and support, the achievements would not of been possible.”
