A much improved Myton Warriors side made this a real competition at the Beverley leisure centre, matching the Beverley Braves for effort for the full hour, but the Braves had the upper hand with regards to skill levels and this showed throughout.
MOTM Ollie Gresswell led from the front as in recent weeks and was the pick of the forwards, just edging a fine supporting cast of Jack Dixon, Alex Nuttall and Owen Lightfoot with Dixon powering over for a early brace of tries in typical fashion, Owen Miller adding the conversions.
With the budding halves partnership of Joe McCabe and Tom Nuttall linking up well with the outside backs and particularly fullback Chris Martin who had another stormer, the result was never in doubt and with two spectacular tries from first, gorgeous George Spivey on the left edge following some fine ball work and the other by the returning Will Cohen who showed a clean pair of heals as he beat several defenders in a 50m weave to the line.
Martin also showed great footwork in powering over for another brace of tries, Miller kicker 2 more to double his tally and McCabe knocked over two for himself.
Isaac Merryweather showed what he can do in the second half whilst Charlie Gay continued to show some neat touches off the bench.
Tougher assignments ahead but progress is being made across the board and Coach Craig Collins was content afterwards saying;
“The harvest of peace is produced from a seed of contentment.”
Final Score : Beverley Braves U14s 36 – Myton Warriors U14s 4
