
Beverley Building Society have named Go Kids Go! – a local charity that provides services for young wheelchair users their Charity of the Month for March 2017.
Go Kids Go free courses to young wheelchair users, teaching them skills to become independently mobile so that they can enjoy the same activities as their able-bodied peers.
Beverley Building Society met with Roy Wild from the Go kids Go to learn more about the charity and its work.
Roy explained the work they undertake and thanked people for their support, he said;
“Go Kids Go would like to thank the customers of Beverley Building Society for choosing us as the recipients of the monthly charity donation.”
“The money donated will go towards running workshops for young wheelchair users and towards our disability awareness work in schools in Beverley and the surrounding area.”
“Go Kids Go have been running wheelchair skills training for young wheelchair users since 1990; training designed to enable independence and to help ensure that the young people are able to reach their full potential.”
Steve Kennington, Finance Manager at the Beverley Building Society said;
“Go Kids Go is a fantastic local charity, providing training for those both with full and part-time need to use a wheelchair.”
“Providing that support to help maximize independent mobility is invaluable to the young people they work with and also helps improve understanding the difficulties they can face.”
While Go Kids Go is based in Beverley they operate throughout the UK, hosting school awareness days and training for full-time and part-time wheelchair users.
Beverley Building Society ’s Charity of the Month initiative has been successful this year, with many charities being suggested by members and non-members of the Society.
