
Monks Walk pub in Beverley is inviting readers to meet the authors of two very different local interest books on the same day.
On Wednesday May 10th the pub in Highgate will be welcoming Fleur & Colin Speakman, authors of the highly acclaimed new book ‘The Yorkshire Wolds – a Journey of Discovery’, which has a chapter on Beverley and John Phillips, author of: ‘Of a Fair Uniforme Making’ – a definitive history on the building of Beverley Minster.
Both sets of authors will be available to sign copies of their books and talk to readers about its writing. In addition the Speakmans will discuss the setting up of Gritstone, Britain’s first Writers Publishing Co-operative that made its publication possible. Some of the original photographs by Dorian
Speakman, used in the book, will also be on display.
Signed copies of The Yorkshire Wolds – which has a Foreword by Sir Gary Verity, Chief Execuive of Welcome to Yorkshire – will be available on the day. price £15 while Of A Fair Uniforme Making will be available at £25.
The authors will be at Monks Walk from 4pm and light refeshments will be available.
