Organisers of the Pittaway Beverley 10K say that the event was a massive success with record numbers entering and finishing the race.
Beverley Athletic Club Chairman Rob Reid made the comments after the race that saw around 1,800 enter the popular race that sees runners from across the region complete.
Speaking to HU17.net Mr. Reid said;
“Everyone at the club is delighted with how this year’s Pittaway Beverley 10K and Fun Run went. The day was blessed by great weather, maybe a bit warm for some runners but perfect for the spectators.”
“As chairman of the club, I would like to thank St John’s Ambulance and each of the 100 marshals who helped make the day the success it was.”
“Beverley Athletic Club are very proud to put on an event like this for the Town, and it was magnificent to see the entire route lined with enthusiastic spectators cheering on the runners.”
“We think that the finishing line in Wednesday Market is really impressive and continues to get better year in year out.”
Gregan Clarkson, from Beverley who runs for Kingston upon Hull AC was the overall winner with a new PB clocking a time of 00:33:11.
Becky Rigby of Preston Harriers & AC was the first lady as she finished the course with a time of 00:35:49.
Lewis Holloway was the first male back for Beverley AC with Becky Briggs claiming being the first lady to cross the line in the colours of Beverley AC.
In the B&A Scaffolding Fun Run,he winner was Kian Wiles a member of Baron & District AC.
Mr. Reid added;
“We would also like to assure everyone that the runners who suffered with heat exhaustion are all OK. On behalf of the club, I want to thank those runners who stopped their race to help them. We will be offering all those runners a free entry into next year’s event.”
“Finally, a big mention needs to go to our sponsors who have supported the event. Our gratitude goes to Pittaway, for sponsoring the main event, Quick & Clarke for putting up the price money and B&A Scaffolding.”
Attentions for the club will now switch o the Walkington 10K that takes place 14 July, anyone wishing to take part needs get registered to claim last few remaining places.
