The company behind the town’s successful Potting Shed Bar and Gardens plans to transform a ground floor site in the centre to create a new venue with a bold trans-Atlantic theme.

FirePit Smokehouse & Sports Bar will have distinctive Americana décor, combining urban industrial fittings with bright neon signage, classic car parts and bric-a-brac and a few unique wow factors. Amongst its trademark features will be a custom-built Airstream-style aluminium caravan, made in Beverley and specially designed to create a cool private dining booth.

Its menu will focus on signature US-style dishes from a smoker and wood-burning grill, served alongside an extensive selection of house cocktails, beers and spirits.

The Beverley FirePit will be the second in a new concept launched by Ormsborough Limited, the parent company of Potting Shed Trading, a company founded by the BurningNight management team and funded by funds managed by Downing LLP.

Allan Harper, CEO of Potting Shed Trading Ltd, said the company had been delighted by the response from customers to the smokehouse theme at its first site in Bingley and it hoped to roll out the brand further.

“It has been so well received already, sitting in town alongside our Potting Shed Bar and Gardens, that gave us confidence in our decision that the two very different styles complement each other perfectly,” he said. “We feel the American décor and menu work very well, and it’s something totally new for Beverley which we’re confident customers will really enjoy.”

Graham Tait, Flemingate Centre Manager, said: “We’re delighted that this exciting new venue is coming to Flemingate. FirePit Smokehouse & Sports Bar will add another distinctive element to the centre and to Beverley as a whole.

“It will enhance even further Flemingate’s appeal as a retail and leisure destination and will be yet another reason for people to come to Beverley, as there is nothing like it in the town or for many miles around.

“This investment builds on the success of Potting Shed Bar and Gardens close to the Flemingate centre and is the latest chapter in the development of a fast-growing, independent Yorkshire business.

“We believe Flemingate is the perfect location for this new concept and that the other businesses within the centre will benefit from the trade and footfall Firepit Smokehouse & Sports Bar will generate.”

Jade Renner, operations manager for the company, said the FirePit concept was one which has been designed to appeal to everyone, bringing an urban feel to the town location which overlooks stunning Beverley Minster. “We believe it will be a great place for all ages, including families during the day,” she said, “and we’re hoping to create a fun, lively atmosphere in the sports bar area where we’ll have a giant 4m wide LED screen showing live matches and games, along with shuffleboard and pool tables, and pinball machines.”

Steven Kenee, partner at Downing LLP, added: “We are pleased to be able to open a second site for this new brand within months of its launch, illustrating our commitment to building long term relationships with, and providing follow on capital to, high quality management teams.”
