Cherry Burton Cricket Club are to hold a family fun day this Saturday in memory of Ashley Godber.
Cherry Burton will be hosting Beverley Town Cricket Club, a side that will include one of Ashley’s closest friends Stew Scott.
Speaking about the event, Mr. Scott said;
“Ash would have been buzzing for this game and I feel we need to make a day of it, everyone is welcome to come a long and enjoy the occasion.”
“The day at starts at noon, we have arranged Bouncy castle, BBQ, cakes and bun stalls.”
“Before the match we will be holding a minutes applause in memory of Ash.”
Mr. Scott will be joined by Ollie Baldwin in Beverley ranks as the pair return to Cherry Burton Sports Field to face their former side in what will be an emotional day for both clubs.
On the Sunday 20 players from Cherry Burton Cricket Club will be tackling the Hull 10K in full cricket gear.
Mr. Scott said;
“Ash was going to do the Hull 10K as he was trying to raise money to promote cricket in the community. We wanted to take part for him and try and reach the target he set of £5,000.”
Proceeds raised from the Family Fun Day will be added to Ashley’s Just Giving Page which he set up to help fund the development cricket locally.
