Pride in Hull are delighted to announce that Irish pop sensations B*Witched and drag superstar La Voix will be entertaining audiences in Queen’s Gardens on Saturday 22 July as part of Pride in Hull’s spectacular show that kick-starts Hull UK City of Culture 2017’s LGBT 50 week.
The latest additions are joining an already packed line-up featuring Marc Almond, Sonia, Cleopatra and many more.
Having sold 3 million albums worldwide, B*Witched’s first four singles, “C’est la Vie”, “Rollercoaster”, “To You I Belong” and “Blame It on the Weatherman” all debuted at number one on the UK singles chart. After their chart reign, the girls took a break from the music industry before reforming for the Big Reunion on ITV and releasing an EP of new material Champagne or Guinness in 2014.
La Voix has been performing in the UK for over a decade, but came to wider attention after competing in Britain’s Got Talent, where she was a semi-finalist. She was also RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Ambassador. She has performed her show in New York and in the West End and appeared in the Absolutely Fabulous movie.
Colin Wilson, trustee of Pride in Hull said:
“We’re so excited to be bringing B*Witched and La Voix to Pride this year, B*Witched have a catalogue of number one singles and some great new material that brings their sound right up to date and La Voix is an absolute legend of drag in the UK who is bound to entertain.”
Pride in Hull has been awarded the title of UK Pride to coincide with the city enjoying its year as UK City of Culture. The accolade has been awarded by the UK Pride Organiser’s Network for the first time this year to provide a focus on one Pride event in the country.
