Beverley apprentice Liam Wardell has been named the best apprentice in the Yorkshire & Trent Region for the 2017 Federation of Master Builders’ (FMB) Master Builder Awards.

As part of the Master Builder Awards the FMB carries out a nationwide search to find the building industry’s best apprentices.

Liam, who works at Brick Baron Ltd in Hessle, was chosen in a fiercely contested competition and recognised for a high standard of workmanship and professional attitude toward his work and studies.

Currently undertaking his NVQ Level 3 in Bricklaying, Liam has shown a strong commitment to his craft from the start. Despite working on several high-profile projects, such as the multi-million pound Harrogate Showground, Liam still finds the time to stay late and help out at Hull 4 Heroes, which works closely with his employer, Brick Baron Ltd.

The best in Yorkshire & Trent will now go up against other winning apprentices from around the UK with a chance to claim the coveted national Apprentice 2017 crown, and a cash prize of £500 from the FMB.

The national winner will be celebrated at a ceremony held at the Intercontinental Park Lane Hotel on 15th September 2017, and hosted by TV presenter and building enthusiast Nick Knowles.

Steve Laurence, FMB North Director, said;

“This is a great opportunity for the FMB to reward the talented apprentices on which the UK construction industry will rely in the years to come.”

“This award is a testament to their hard work and enthusiasm in their chosen occupation. Liam is a shining example of how commitment, dedication and determination can achieve results and we wish him luck in the national final.”
