Residents and parish councillors from Newbald will meet with MP Graham Stuart as they look to address the villages connectivity issues.
Located just outside Beverley, some residents in Newbald are able to enjoy ultrafast and even superfast internet while many others in the village are missing out on internet access at speeds most of us take for granted.
Speaking ahead o f the meeting Mr Stuart say he wants suppliers and residents to get on board, he said;
“I am urging Kcom to follow up on the fantastic roll-out of its Lightstream service in Beverley by doing all it can to help people and businesses in North Newbald.”
“86pc of properties in Beverley and Holderness are currently supposed to have very fast broadband but all partners including suppliers, the local authority and the Government need to pull their weight to reach the remaining rural areas, where the situation is often critical.”
“People in North Newbald have their own important role to play and I am asking them to fill in the Parish Council’s broadband survey.”
“If we fail to show demand now, it could be a long time before another supplier delivers the infrastructure.”
BT has already ruled out any plans to upgrade the infrastructure in Newbald, while Kcom have said there is the potential for fibre to be rolled out if enough homes agree to sign up to service.
The MP will meet with residents on the village green at 2PM this coming Friday, 14 July as he looks to do what he can to help address the issue of slow internet speeds in Newbald.
