BIG BUS DAY : Popular Free Event Returns To Hull For 2017

Hull’s wildly popular Big Bus Day returns again for 2017, with lots to see and do at the Streetlife Museum of Transport.

Jointly organised by local bus company East Yorkshire Motor Services (EYMS) and Hull Museums, Big Bus Day attracts people of all ages, and has become one of the Museum Quarter’s biggest events.

Peter Shipp, chairman of EYMS, said:

“Everywhere we go, people tell us how much they love Big Bus Day, and we have people who come back year after year to enjoy the event. Seeing grandparents, parents and children all having fun together makes it a really worthwhile event for our staff, who voluntarily give up their free time to help at the day. We have our fingers crossed for good weather!”

Councillor Terry Geraghty, Hull City Council Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Tourism and Chair of Hull Culture & Leisure Limited, said:

“We always enjoy hosting this fantastic day and this year is extra special during our UK City of Culture celebrations. It is always a popular event with visitors from far and wide, offering something for everyone to enjoy.

“I hope as many people as possible will come along and enjoy this free event.”

Admission and most activities are free, although donations will be collected in support of the NSPCC and other charities.”

The family friendly event, which is free entry, takes place on Saturday 9 September, 10am – 4pm, at the Streetlife Museum of Transport on Hull’s High Street.

Attractions include free open-top and vintage bus trips around the city, a display of vintage and modern buses, a children’s trail and bus-related games and activities, the award-winning EYMS Brass Band, stalls selling bus models, photos, books and memorabilia, facepainting, and much more.

And this year, Big Bus Day will be partnering with Heritage Open Days to provide guided open top bus tours which will take you around some of the city’s most historic buildings.

Ideal for both families and bus enthusiasts alike, there’s also the opportunity to look around the fascinating displays of the Streetlife Museum.
