LTP sponsors ‘Reimagining Hull’, the Royal Town Planning Institute Yorkshire’s annual lecture and reception.

Local Transport Projects (LTP) has sponsored the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Yorkshire’s Annual Lecture and Reception, which is being held in Hull.

Guest speaker Martin Green, CEO and Director of Hull UK City of Culture 2017, will be discussing the city’s long term plan to attract investment and create jobs.

The event will focus on the regeneration, development and growth of Hull in its city of culture year, how the city of culture has aided the area and how Hull can assist other cities in their bids for cultural success. The evening lecture itself will be followed by a networking reception in the Guildhall.

Tony Kirby, director of Beverley-based LTP, said: “2017 has been, without a shadow of a doubt, a landmark year in history of the city of Hull, kick-starting another phase of regeneration that is clearly evident throughout our built environment.

“As a local business, everyone at LTP is keenly aware of Hull’s historically unique urban infrastructure which has had to adapt to an extensive maritime history as a whaling, fishing and merchant navy port while growing out of the devastation wreaked by aerial bombing in the Second World War.

“We are a keen supporter of the RTPI’s activities making this an ideal opportunity for us to show our support for Hull at such an important time in its development.”

Emma Lancaster, Chair of RTPI Yorkshire, said: “I’m delighted RTPI Yorkshire has been able to bring this year’s Annual Lecture to Hull during 2017. The event will be of interest to both planners and non-planners, aiding our understanding of the role of culture in catalysing economic and social regeneration.

“Local Transport Projects’ sponsorship of the Annual Lecture reflects their commitment to supporting built environment professionals with high quality transport planning advice.”

The RTPI is a member organisation representing 24,000 planning professionals working worldwide in the public, private, charitable and education sectors. The RTPI also leads policy debates, establishes innovative approaches and influences national planning policy in order to promote good planning and raise the standards of the planning profession.

A tour is being offered before the event for anyone who wants to explore the key regeneration and cultural projects of the city.
