Beverley Folk Festival has announced new artist bookings for their 2018 Festival to be held over the weekend 15 – 17th June at Beverley Racecourse.

Organisers are working hard to ensure that this, the 35th annual event, will be a memorable one.

The critically acclaimed husband and wife duo ‘Megson’ are sure to make an impact. Twice winners at the ‘Spiral Earth’ awards and three times nominees in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards they perform their own unique brand of folk music.

Multi instrumentalists, they bring an infectious mix of heavenly vocals and lush harmonies to their performances with arresting and intelligent songwriting.

When combined with their northern humour they have in the words of The Guardian’s Robin Denslow become “the most original duo on the British folk scene”.

Summer 2016 saw the release of their much anticipated new studio album GOOD TIMES WILL COME AGAIN gaining them much critical acclaim:

“One of the most original political folk sets of the year. Ewan MacColl would have been impressed.” The Guardian.

“Relevant, thought-provoking songs that would make Woody Guthrie proud” Acoustic Magazine.

Folk broadcasting legend Mike Harding described it as “One of the top albums of 2016.”

“Their rich acoustic mix of miners, lovers, charlatans and whimsy is about as traditional as folk gets, but never sounds old or dulled.” said Q Magazine’s Andy Fyfe, while Colin Irwin wrote in MOJO “In A Box brackets Stu and Debbie Hanna among the upper echelon of Brit folk songwriters.”

Another first for Beverley will be Grace Petrie a self proclaimed ‘protest singer’. A folk singer, songwriter and activist she played to a packed audience at this years Cambridge Folk Festival bringing the house down with her performance. She has a unique take on life, love and politics delivered with warmth and wit – a must see act.

Festival programmer Kelly Foley commented “these are the latest additions to our line up for 2018 with many more names yet to be a booked and released – I aim to give our audiences the best in modern and traditional folk”

Tickets are now on sale for 2018 with a special Early Bird offer of just £80 for the whole weekend now on sale but ticket prices will soon rise so early bookings are recommended.
