Rich Jagger says he was disappointed after Beverley Town Football Club suffered a shock defeat as they were beaten 2-1 by East Riding Rangers.

In a match that Town were looking to bounce back in following their defeat to Bridlington, Jagger’s side flopped and were simply not good enough.

Speaking after the game, Jagger to HU17.net;

“We didn’t compete, didn’t get stuck in, didn’t work hard enough to win the game. They worked harder, ran faster and wanted it more than us. That’s what was disappointing the most.”

“In the first half it was the worst we have played all season. I said to the lads in the dressing room it will be a scrap, and in the first ten minutes we must earn the right to play.”

“Then, when the whistle went we just didn’t turn up. We conceded a sloppy early goal and struggled to string two passes together.”

“Nothing went for us.”

“To be honest, we looked like strangers in the first 45 minutes. Second half we increased the tempo, and tried hard to get back in the game. Alex Stark got a good goal but we couldn’t find an equaliser.”

“We had an honest chat after the game, and there is no doubt the lads know that performance wasn’t good enough.”

Town have now lost their last three games and Jagger will one of his toughest tests of the season as they host league leaders in the cup.

Jagger says he will make some changes as he looks for reaction from his side, he said;

“We’ve got Chalk Lane in the cup next week and I am looking to make some changes and hope to get a big reaction from the team.”

Town remain in tenth place in the Humber premier League while for Rangers, their first win of the new season sees them replaced by South Cave United at the foot of the table.
